I didn’t set out to become a writer. I studied Anthropology. I have always been fascinated by people, and that seemed the perfect way to learn about them. Then, I spent years working in restaurants and bars, watching them. Between the book knowledge and the real-world experience, I’m still figuring them out, but I have learned how to communicate with them. 

College taught me why people do and say the things they do and say. The hospitality industry taught me how to read people, and actually see and hear what they do and say. Now, I use that understanding to write words that tell a story, explain complex ideas simply, or motivate potential consumers to buy, baby!

Here are a few more things to know about me…

• I will absolutely judge a restaurant by its fries.

• I have a visceral reaction to misspelled words. Don’t get me started on missing punctuation!

• I am unreasonably good at Wordle.

• Even as a hobby, I write. My current project is a cookbook for people who often dine alone.

Turns out, studying people is useful when your job is figuring out what to say them.
